Bioannotator is a tool for analyzing protein and DNA sequences and displaying biochemical and biophysical data about a sequence. We will use Bioannotator to investigate a protein sequence. To open bioannotator, highlight the human TNF-alpha protein sequence, (TNFA_HUMAN) and select Bioannoatator - Analyze Selected Molecule from the Analyze menu: The bioannotator window will open, showing the initial analysis carried out by the program: The window has three panes. The text pane and sequence pane are identical to those that we have used before. The new pane is the graphics pane on the right hand side.
The default graphics pane shows the hydropathicity and hydrophobicity of the protein sequence. More, or fewer, plots can be added to the graphics pane by selecting Analysis List from the Analyze menu or clicking on the anlaysis list set up button: You can edit the graphical panes by right clicking on them to set up the display. This will allow you to choose between bar charts and line graphs, change the colors of the lines, and so on. You can also set many of the parameters for each of the analyses. You may also edit the image to allow overlapping lines:
By changing these parameters you can go from: to |
